The American metallurgical company Commercial Metals Company (CMC) has today appointed a new management team for CMC Sisak, as the former Pipe Mill Sisak is now called, with Ludovit Gajdos as the president, who was previously the manager of Commercial Metals International (CMI), their subsidiary in Switzerland.
The new management team, consisting of four foreign managers, held meetings with workers at the plants today, where they presented plans for the modernization of production and development of the company, which employs 1,209 workers from the former Pipe Mill and 207 workers from Remont Caprag. Each employee received a welcome gift from the new owner CMC International in the form of a cash bonus of 500 kuna, and all production workers were given protective helmets. The new owner, it was stated, will establish high standards for workplace safety, guaranteeing employees that none of them will be laid off in the next three years.
The main union representatives of the Croatian Metalworkers Union HUS, Siniša Jurilj, and the Union of Metalworkers of Croatia SSSH, Mato Somić, expressed satisfaction with the established relations with the new owner, stating that the new owner respects the provisions of the social agreement, which was concluded with the unions prior to participating in the public tender for the sale of the Sisak Pipe Mill. CMC Sisak intends to actively participate in the development of the Sisak community and will donate a total of 400,000 kuna to the city of Sisak. (H)
