A business association composed of Croatian companies – Konstruktor inženjering d.d. Split, Viadukt d.d. Zagreb, and Hidroelektra niskogradnja d.d. Zagreb has been selected today as the contractor for the construction of the mainland-Pelješac bridge, reported the Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development.
Among the three bids received for the public tender, the bid from the Croatian consortium amounting to 1,945,388,829.86 kuna excluding VAT was evaluated as the most favorable by the Commission of Hrvatske ceste, which is the investor of the works. In the tender for the construction of the mainland-Pelješac bridge, published on June 11 of this year, in addition to the domestic consortium, a business association consisting of construction companies Dywidag Bau from Germany, Strabag from Austria, Cimola from Italy, and Eiffel from France also applied, and the Austrian company Alpine Mayreder Bau from Salzburg also submitted its bid. The signing of the contract with the contractor is expected after the expiration of the appeal period, and the start of construction of the bridge is announced for the autumn, the Ministry emphasizes.
They remind that, according to the tender conditions, the deadline for completion of the works is 48 months (4 years), and the estimated value of the works amounts to 1.95 billion kuna. The project was developed by the Institute for Structures of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Zagreb. The length of the mainland-Pelješac bridge is 2.3 kilometers, the width is 21.5 meters, and the width of the central sea passage is 568 meters. The width of the navigable channel is 200 meters, and the maximum height of the bridge is 55 meters, which was also agreed upon between the expert working groups of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina on December 7, 2006, in Sarajevo and signed in the agreed note, it concludes in the statement.
