One Millionth iPhone Sold, Shares Jumped by 3.8 Percent

Just three days after reducing its price by $200 to boost sales, the one millionth iPhone has been sold, Apple announced on Tuesday. This milestone was reached earlier than predicted by Jobs’ experts, causing the company’s shares to immediately rise by 3.8 percent, or nearly five dollars, significantly improving the situation for Apple after last week’s stock price decline.

It took only 74 days since the iPhone’s market launch and unprecedented euphoria surrounding a mobile phone, or gadget, for the millionth device to be sold, whereas it was initially estimated that this would happen by the end of September. Interestingly, it took Apple two years to sell its millionth iPod, and if they continue selling at this pace, Jobs’ company could sell tens of millions of iPhones in two years. (M.N.)
