The Austrian insurance group Uniqa increased its net profit in the first half of the year by 59 percent to 105 million euros compared to the same period last year, the company announced on Friday.
Pre-tax profit rose by 21 percent to 135 million euros, further states Uniqa’s announcement. The earned premium during this period increased by 4.2 percent, reaching 2.4 billion euros. The premium volume of the group, including life insurance products linked to index and investment funds, amounted to 2.72 billion euros, an increase of 1.4 percent. The strongest impetus for the group’s growth continued to be premiums from the Eastern European market, which, reaching 377 million euros, increased by 23 percent.
Capital investments of the Uniqa group increased by 9.9 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 21.77 billion euros. Uniqa announced that it has raised its planned pre-tax profit for this year from 270 to 320 million euros, or 34 percent more compared to 2006. The increase is based on changes in the ownership structure of the company Strabag, organic growth of group members in Eastern European countries, and the assumption of a stable market and absence of extraordinary damaging events.
