The State Geodetic Administration recorded the ten millionth query for data search on the online cadastral data browser www.katastar.hr yesterday, which represents an exceptional achievement as this browser has only existed for less than two years, emphasized the director of the State Geodetic Administration, Željko Bačić, at a press conference today.
He highlighted that this means that in the past 22 months since the system was established, nearly 20,000 people have accessed the system daily and searched cadastral data. The ten millionth user of the service www.katastar.hr is Damir Herceg. Herceg was awarded a GPS device by the State Geodetic Administration today. The browser www.katastar.hr is part of the strategy of the Government of the Republic of Croatia for the development and establishment of e-information services for faster and easier communication between citizens and entrepreneurs with state administration bodies. This browser provides insight into the database of cadastral data in Croatia, which contains more than 14 million registered cadastral parcels and represents the most complete database on the state of land in the country.
Established with the aim of contributing to the reform of land administration, the browser www.katastar.hr brings many benefits to citizens and legal entities, such as transparent data presentation and immediate and facilitated access to cadastral data free of charge, said Bačić. He announced that by the end of October or the beginning of November, another online browser named “Geoportal” will be launched, which will allow access to graphic spatial data, including cadastral plans, digital orthophoto maps, and topographic maps. “We consider Geoportal a kind of ‘upgrade’ to the browser www.katastar.hr, as graphic data will be added to the alphanumeric data,” said Bačić. He noted that they have so far digitized one-third of the cadastral plans, and by the end of 2008, all plans should be available on the internet.
