Vidošević Unanimously Elected for Fourth Term at the Head of HGK

Nadan Vidošević has been unanimously elected as the president of the Croatian Chamber of Economy for the next four-year term. The election was entirely expected, and this marks Vidošević’s fourth consecutive term at the helm of the Chamber.

The re-election, as things stand, is proceeding routinely as there were again no opposing candidates. The voting for the new/old president represented the shortest part of the 8th session of the Assembly of HGK, during which trends in the Croatian economy and the material ‘Leading Companies by Economic Sectors and Counties’ were also presented. Vidošević reflected on the work of HGK from 2003 to 2007, emphasizing that HGK is as strong as its members and that the Chamber must be a place for strategic agreement for all members, given its lobbying power.

Among the main issues troubling the Croatian economy, he mentioned the demographic issue and the related immigration policy that Croatia must work on seriously. Additionally, he pointed out that the Croatian economy currently lacks answers to the question of what goods to offer to the rapidly growing Russian market. Therefore, Vidošević stated, HGK, in cooperation with Croatian companies, will soon launch the Croatian Business Center in Moscow. Vidošević served as president of HGK professionally from 1995 to 2005, as his only role, and since 2005, he has been serving voluntarily as he is simultaneously the president of the management board of Kraš. Before his first term at HGK, he was the Minister of Economy for two years.   (Matilda Bačelić)
