Russian oil magnate Roman Abramovich has purchased the latest Airbus aircraft, the giant A380, for $300 million. This was reported by the French daily newspaper Le Figaro.
The richest Russian in the world and owner of Premier League club Chelsea has thus become the first private individual to own the latest aircraft from the European aircraft manufacturer. The Airbus A380 will be delivered to the Russian tycoon in 2011, and the Swiss company Lufthansa Technik has been tasked with designing its interior.
Despite delays in delivery due to production issues (the parent company Airbus EADS has already suffered losses of several billion dollars because of this), Airbus has so far received 173 orders for the purchase of this largest aircraft in the world. Its main customer is the largest Asian airline, Singapore Airlines, which will also receive the first aircraft on October 15, but after a two-year delay. (Tatjana Vukić)
