For the construction of the land-Pelješac bridge, three bids were opened yesterday at Hrvatske ceste, which is the investor of the works, it was announced today by the Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development.
Two business associations responded to the public tender announced on June 11 of this year – a domestic one composed of Konstruktor inženjering, Viadukt, and Hidroelektra, and a foreign one consisting of European construction companies Dywidag from Germany, Strabag from Austria, Cimola from Italy, and Eiffel from France, while the third bid was submitted by the Austrian company Alpina Bau from Salzburg.
Hrvatske ceste emphasizes that a calculation check of the submitted bids will follow, as well as all other conditions of the tender, and the selection of the most favorable bidder is expected in the next 15 to 20 days. If there are no complaints after the selection of the contractor, the start of construction of the bridge is announced for the fall. According to the tender conditions, the deadline for completion of the works is 48 months (four years), and the designer’s price of the works amounts to 1.9 billion kuna. The project was developed by the Institute for Structures of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Zagreb. The length of the bridge is 2.3 kilometers, the width is 21.5 meters, and the width of the central sea passage is 568 meters, while the width of the navigable channel is 200 meters, and the maximum height of the bridge is 55 meters, which was agreed upon between the Expert Working Groups of the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in December of last year in Sarajevo and signed in an agreed note, concludes the Ministry’s announcement. The announcement does not provide any data about the bids, but according to some media reports, the most favorable bid was given by the domestic consortium.
