Now is the time to start planning your next annual vacation, and for plans for the month of December, it is the last moment. You can learn to plan your finances at free workshops for citizens ‘How to Balance Income and Expenses?’ in six cities in Croatia organized by the Croatian Banking Association.
According to a survey by the portal Moj Posao, 40 percent of Croatian citizens spent an entire monthly salary or more during their annual vacation. When considering that December is just around the corner, a month when pre-holiday and holiday shopping frenzy reaches its peak, there is a clear need for better planning and management of personal finances.
During the past Christmas and New Year holidays, Croatians spent an estimated 11 billion kuna, according to the Independent Croatian Trade Unions (NHS), and given the trends from previous years, it is not unrealistic to expect such a figure this year as well. The end of the annual vacation season and the approach of the holidays is a good time for systematic planning of personal budgets to minimize the stress of payments and settling debts.
Encouraging careful planning of one’s budget is one of the goals of the free workshops for citizens titled “How to Balance Income and Expenses?” which have been held in six cities (Osijek, Pula, Rijeka, Varaždin, Zadar, and Zagreb) since June this year. So far, the Croatian Banking Association has conducted 25 workshops with 245 participants in these six cities before the summer break, receiving more than positive feedback. In the fall, the project will continue in two more cities (Dubrovnik and Split), covering all major regional centers.
