Croatia recorded an increase in the number of tourists and their overnight stays in July this year and in the first seven months compared to the same period last year – in July, an increase of 3.3 and 6.6 percent, respectively, while in the seven months, the number of tourist arrivals increased by 8.4 percent and overnight stays by 6.7 percent, according to the first data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).
According to this data, Croatia was visited by 2,646,089 tourists in July who achieved 16,523,581 overnight stays. When comparing this data with the DZS data for last July, the number of tourist arrivals in this July is higher by 3.3 percent, and overnight stays by 6.6 percent. There were more than 2.36 million foreign guests in July, which is an increase of 2.6 percent compared to last July, and with 14.93 million overnight stays, they are up by 5.6 percent.
Domestic tourists recorded larger increases – in the number of arrivals by 9.3 percent and overnight stays by 17.1 percent. There were 281.16 thousand domestic tourists in July this year, and they achieved 1.58 million overnight stays. According to the first data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, Croatia was visited by 6,188,532 tourists in the period from January to July, achieving 29,598,471 overnight stays, which is an increase of 8.4 and 6.7 percent compared to the same period last year. The data for the seven months also shows that the majority of arrivals and overnight stays were achieved by foreigners, but a faster growth of physical tourism indicators was recorded among domestic guests.
