The American automotive conglomerate General Motors is negotiating with Romanian authorities to open a car factory in the city of Jucu, reported the Romanian online portal HotNews.ro.
The factory is expected to cost around 500 million euros and employ 4,000 workers, Romanian media report. In Jucu, cars from GM’s Opel group are expected to be produced.
The first round of negotiations with local authorities took place in early August, writes the Bucharest daily Ziarul de Cluj. Authorities must respond to the American company’s request by October.
GM is also negotiating with the authorities of the Romanian city of Brasov as well as with Bulgaria, Romanian media add. (Hina)
