The total gross premium charged by Croatian insurers at the end of July this year amounted to more than 5.65 billion kuna, of which 4.28 billion kuna relates to non-life insurance premiums and 1.37 billion kuna to life insurance premiums, according to data published by the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (Hanfa).
Compared to the end of June, the total gross premium charged by all insurers increased by 15.8 percent or 774.7 million kuna, with the largest part of this amount relating to the increase in non-life insurance premiums, which at the end of July was 585.8 million kuna or 15.8 percent higher than at the end of the previous month. The largest share of the total gross premium charged at the end of the seventh month of this year, at 37.9 percent or more than 2.1 billion kuna, was held by Croatia osiguranje.
Following is Allianz, with a total premium of 638.8 million kuna, which represents a market share of 11.30 percent. In third place is Euroherc, which, with a premium of 602.9 million kuna, solely in non-life insurance, held 10.67 percent of the Croatian insurance market at the end of July this year. Croatia osiguranje maintained its dominance in the non-life insurance market at the end of July, with a gross premium charged of 1.9 billion kuna or 44.83 percent of the total premium in that market segment. Additionally, there is 50.9 million kuna (1.19 percent share) of Croatia health insurance premium. Following are Euroherc, with a market share in this segment of 14.09 percent (602.9 million kuna premium) and Allianz with a 9.23 percent share (395.28 million kuna premium). In life insurance, Allianz holds the first place at the end of July with a premium of 243.57 million kuna and a share of 17.75 percent. Croatia osiguranje, with a premium of 188.76 million kuna and a 13.76 percent share, took second place, while Grawe osiguranje is in third place, recording a premium of 141.7 million kuna and a market share in life insurance of 10.33 percent.
