Croatian air carriers transported 959 thousand passengers in the first six months, which is 9.5 percent more than in the same period last year, reported the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
In domestic transport during the first six months, 224 thousand passengers were transported, while in international transport, 735 thousand. Domestic transport grew by 10.9 percent, while international transport increased by 9.1 percent compared to the same period last year. In cargo transport, however, Croatian air carriers recorded poorer results than in the same period last year – 2,152 tons of cargo transported is 19.7 percent less than in the same period last year.
The decline in cargo transport was influenced by a decrease in goods transport, with 1,749 tons of goods transported, which is 26.1 percent less than in the first half of last year. However, postal transport recorded an increase of 29.6 percent, and in the first half of this year, Croatian air carriers transported 403 tons of mail. Statistical data on traffic at airports show an increase in passenger traffic of 11.6 percent, with a total of 1.9 million passengers recorded in the first six months of this year.
Of this, there were 384 thousand passengers in domestic traffic, or 13.6 percent more than in the same period last year, and in international traffic, more than 1.5 million passengers, which is an increase of 11.1 percent. From the achieved passenger traffic with foreign countries at airports in the first half of this year, domestic airlines transported 649 thousand passengers, or 4.2 percent more, while foreign airlines transported 880 thousand passengers, which is 16.9 percent more compared to the first six months of last year.
