14 Percent More Tourists in Nautical Ports

Croatian nautical ports continue to record good results, as evidenced by the semi-annual data from the State Bureau of Statistics showing a 14 percent increase in tourist arrivals and a 23 percent increase in overnight stays in these ports compared to the first half of last year.

In the nautical ports during the first half of this year, a total of 234.6 thousand sailors were recorded, achieving 400.6 thousand overnight stays, with the majority of arrivals and overnight stays attributed to foreign tourists. There were 216.6 thousand foreign tourists in these ports, which is 15 percent more, while with 377.8 thousand overnight stays, foreigners are up by 25 percent. Domestic sailors increased by 4 percent compared to last year’s first half, totaling 18 thousand, and a slight increase of 1 percent is recorded with 22.7 thousand overnight stays.

All six Adriatic counties are recording increases in physical tourist traffic this year in their nautical ports. The highest number of arrivals of sailors, 62.2 thousand, and overnight stays, 103 thousand, are recorded in the nautical ports of Šibenik-Knin County, where this represents an increase of 15 and 27 percent, respectively.

Istrian nautical ports recorded 42.4 thousand semi-annual tourist arrivals and 83.3 thousand overnight stays, marking increases of 38 and 39 percent, respectively. The nautical ports of Dubrovnik-Neretva County were visited by 21.5 thousand tourists, which is 25 percent more, and 34 thousand overnight stays represent a 23 percent increase for these ports. Nautical ports in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County experienced increases of 20 percent in arrivals and 50 percent in overnight stays compared to last year, with 16.7 thousand tourists and 54 thousand overnight stays. The smallest increases compared to last year, averaging 2 to 5 percent, were recorded in the nautical ports of Zadar and Split-Dalmatia County. The nautical ports of Zadar County were visited by 48.3 thousand tourists, achieving 75.1 thousand overnight stays, which are increases of 5 percent each. In the Split-Dalmatia nautical ports, there were 2 percent more sailors than last year, totaling 43.2 thousand, achieving 51.3 thousand overnight stays or 5 percent more. (Hina)
