The Director of the Croatian Tourist Board, Niko Bulić, announced in the HTV News that tourism results are expected to be 8 to 10 percent better, based on data processing for the first half of the year and the month of July.
Bulić added that hotels that have prepared will have very good occupancy even after the peak season, all the way until its end, and this trend may continue even after the season.
The peak of the tourist season has ended. Despite huge traffic jams on the roads towards the interior, there are still about 900,000 tourists remaining on the Adriatic. There are significant traffic jams on Croatian roads this weekend as well. Almost all roads towards the interior are clogged with kilometer-long queues.
At the exit from the Zagreb-Split highway at the Lučko toll booths, the queue is about 8 km long, which means a wait of about 45 minutes. Traffic is exceptionally heavy at the border crossings Bregana, Macelj, Kaštel, and Pasjak – on the exit from the country. Due to congestion in freight traffic at the Macelj border crossing, trucks are being diverted already at the Trakošćan toll.
"We expect that the exit during this afternoon, especially on Sunday afternoon, will be increased and strong, so overall, for this weekend, the number of departures could exceed the number of arrivals of foreign guests for this weekend," emphasized Vlado Haramija, Assistant Chief of the Border Police.
