The Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia on Tuesday warned of the danger of overheating in its 46 million BL-5C batteries and offered users a free replacement.
The company stated that approximately 100 cases of battery overheating during charging had been recorded, after which they ceased to function. These are BL-5C batteries produced by the Japanese manufacturer Matsushita between December 2005 and November 2006.
According to Nokia’s data, around 46 million batteries of this type are in use worldwide. Mobile phone users are requested to check the serial number and production details of their batteries, as well as the date and country of manufacture.
