Deutsche Telekom’s Profit Decreased by 40 Percent

Deutsche Telekom (DT) reported a decline in its net profit in the second quarter of this year due to continued customer losses in its fixed-line business segment.

As stated by the largest telecommunications company in Europe by revenue, the profit for this quarter amounted to 608 million euros, compared to 1.02 billion euros achieved in the same period last year. The figures exceeded analysts’ expectations, who had forecasted a profit of 563 million euros for this quarterly period. DT’s revenues in the same period increased by 2.9 percent year-on-year, to 15.6 billion euros, supported by continued growth in the company’s mobile phone business segment. They are also slightly higher than the 15.5 billion euros estimated by analysts.  (H)
