During the morning, a new fire broke out in the Dubrovnik area, in Rijeka dubrovačka, above Mokošica, as reported by the Fire Operations Center Divulje. Given that multiple fires are burning in the Dubrovnik area, a headquarters has been established in Župa dubrovačka, which has requested additional tankers with crews from Šibenik-Knin and Zadar counties.
In extinguishing the fire, alongside Dubrovnik’s public and volunteer fire brigades, state intervention units, specially organized forces of the Croatian Army, and firefighters from the Split-Dalmatia County are also participating. A total of 250 firefighters with 43 vehicles are involved, and early this morning, air tankers were dispatched from the Zemunik air base, which were redirected to Resnik airport due to strong winds and significant turbulence, to wait for more favorable winds. Around noon, a fire was reported in the village of Raslina, near Prokljanskog Lake in Šibenik-Knin County. 35 firefighters with 10 fire vehicles have gone to the fire site, and three air tankers have also been sent to assist them, according to the statement.
In the central part of Župa dubrovačka, a fire continues to burn, which spread yesterday afternoon from the eastern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and extinguishing efforts are complicated due to strong winds and leftover explosive ordnance, with frequent rockfalls, confirmed this morning by the chief county fire commander in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Miše Miloslavić. The situation is very complex at the fire sites in Župa dubrovačka and Konavle, Miloslavić emphasized. This morning, a fire also broke out in the Gabrila area in the municipality of Konavle, which is currently being extinguished. 300 firefighters, 50 fire vehicles, and two air tankers, along with several hundred residents of Župa dubrovačka and Konavle, are participating in the firefighting efforts.
