German Chancellor Angela Merkel delivered a speech on European policy yesterday afternoon in the Bundestag ahead of the EU summit scheduled for next week. She compared the current situation to that of 50 years ago when European integration was conceived.
‘I believe we can say that the European Union, just like in 1957, is at an important crossroads. Today, it is about the Union adapting to its size and the completely changed international situation, šwhich has so far been neglected or only partially implemented,’ said Merkel, as reported by Deutsche Welle.
