The Adriatic Pipeline (Janaf) plans to continue investing in the modernization of the system to enhance oil transport safety and environmental protection in the upcoming period. This was announced by Janaf’s General Director Dubravko Tkalčić at the presentation of the first issue of the professional journal EGE this year.
In the Journal (Energy – Economy – Ecology – Ethics), Janaf has published its business report for 2006 and development plans until 2010 for the third time. – Our commitment to increasing transport safety has also been supported by local communities with which we partner through Janaf’s Donation Program. In 2006, we invested 5 million kuna in infrastructure projects along the pipeline route, and we plan to invest the same amount this year, Tkalčić emphasized.
One of the goals is to relocate a section of the pipeline that runs under the Krk Bridge to a new, underwater location of 730 meters in length, which is situated at the narrowest point between the mainland and the island of Krk, and whose construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2010. Other plans for the period until 2010 include the construction of storage tanks for oil and oil derivatives, main pipelines, and new monitoring systems. According to the presented data, Janaf transported 6.36 million tons of oil during 2006, and the company’s revenue in the first nine months of last year amounted to 39 million dollars.
