The consortium of Telekom Srbija and the Dutch company Ogalar is the only bidder for the tender for the third mobile telecommunications operator in Montenegro. Representatives of the Montenegrin Agency for Telecommunications and the Serbian-Dutch company did not wish to disclose all details at the opening of the bids. The tender commission announced that the quality of the submitted bid will be considered over the next seven days, while the final decision will be made by March 15.
The potential new mobile telecommunications operator in Montenegro, along with the existing Promonte and T-Mobile, has also submitted bids for the allocation of a license for third-generation mobile telecommunications (3G). The majority owner of Promonte is the Norwegian Telenor, while T-Mobile is part of Deutsche Telekom through the Hungarian Matav. According to the tender conditions, the minimum fee for the third-generation license is two million, while the combination for the second and third generation will amount to six million euros.
Telekom Srbija is a joint-stock company whose majority owner is the Republic of Serbia, and it has been engaged in mobile telecommunications since 1998. Recently, Telekom Srbija became the owner of the mobile telecommunications operator Telekom Srpske. The tender documentation for the second and third generation mobile telecommunications licenses was also purchased by the Luxembourg company Komsel, Mobilkom Austria, and the Podgorica company Monte Nova, founded by Aco Đukanović, the brother of former Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo, but these companies did not submit bids.
