In crafts and freelance professions in Croatia, there were 258,678 employees in December of last year, which is a decrease of 0.7 percent compared to November, as reported by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
Of this, 243,755 were registered in crafts, and 14,923 in freelance professions. The largest number of employees in crafts and freelance professions was registered in wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles, totaling 48,013. In the manufacturing industry, there were 43,534 employees, in the
hotel and restaurant sector 37,883, and in construction 37,547. When looking solely at freelance professions, the highest number of employees, 6,109, was in healthcare and social care at the end of last year, and 3,528 in real estate activities, renting, and business services.
Employment growth was recorded in only three sectors: in household activities by 4.3 percent, in other social, social, and personal service activities by 1.5 percent, and in healthcare and social care by 0.3 percent. The number of employees in other sectors is declining, ranging from 0.3 percent in education to 1.1 percent in agriculture, hunting, and forestry. The number of employees in crafts and freelance professions is declining in all counties, ranging from 0.1 percent in the City of Zagreb to 1.9 percent in Virovitica-Podravina County. (H)
