German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier is leading the European troika negotiating a new partnership and cooperation agreement between the European Union and Russia.
Both sides wish to begin negotiations on partnership and cooperation between Moscow and Brussels as soon as possible, but Steinmeier remains cautious in his optimism, hoping that the obstacles currently blocking this will soon be removed, reports Deutsche Welle. He refers to the veto requested by Poland due to the ban on meat imports from Poland to Russia. The agenda for the afternoon includes complex foreign policy issues, such as the Iranian nuclear program and the Middle East, as well as the issue of resolving the status of Kosovo.
